The Japanese Association of Conference Interpreters is an industry organization operated by professional interpreters for the benefit of professional interpreters working in the Japanese language and another foreign language (not limited to English). There are three membership categories:
Active conference interpreters that have at least 200 days (or approximately 1,500 hours) of conference interpreting experience, or demonstrate an outstanding interpreting ability deserving of JACI certification, and meet the professionalism and ethics requirement of the Association. Membership fee is 10,000 yen/year.
Interpreters and others that work in the industry that do not qualify as certified members but conduct interpreting-related research at an accredited educational institution. Membership fee is 5,000 yen/year.
Interpreters and others that work in the industry that do not qualify as certified members or academic members. Membership fee is 5,000 yen/year.
